The Operations Manager in a school setting is responsible for overseeing various aspects of staff duties and school facilities to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the institution. It is an administrative position with an administrative payscale.

 

Operations Manager Duties & Responsibilities:

• Staff Management:
• Supervising and coordinating the activities of support staff, including janitorial, maintenance, and administrative personnel.
• Providing guidance, and support to staff members to ensure a positive work environment and optimal performance.
• Tracking regular performance of duties, providing feedback, and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.

• Duty Allocation:
• Assigning and scheduling duties for staff members, including arrival, lunch, salat (prayer), and dismissal duties.
• Ensuring that staff members are appropriately trained and equipped to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

• Facilities Management:
• Overseeing the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of school buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Coordinating repairs, renovations, and maintenance projects as needed, working with external contractors or maintenance staff.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and implementing procedures to address any safety concerns.

• Resource Management:
• Managing inventory and supplies for school operations, including office supplies, cleaning supplies, and equipment.
• Developing and monitoring budgets for facilities maintenance and operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.

• Emergency Preparedness:
• Developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation protocols and communication strategies.
• Conducting regular drills and training sessions to prepare staff and students for emergencies.

• Communication and Coordination:
• Serving as a liaison between school administration, staff members, and external stakeholders regarding facilities-related matters.
• Collaborating with other departments, such as academic leadership and student affairs, to ensure seamless coordination of activities and events.

• Continuous Improvement:
• Identifying areas for improvement in facilities management and staff operations, proposing solutions, and implementing changes as necessary.
• Staying informed about industry best practices and technological advancements relevant to facilities management and operations.

Overall, the Operations Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, functional, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors, while also optimizing the use of resources and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
