Position Summary

 

The Public Relations is a step into leadership position and is multi-faced. It will require an energetic, positive, ambitious and out of the box thinker. This position will need to be filled by someone ready to lead and support school programs within the following areas:

  1. Public Relations and School Marketing
  2. Athletic Coordinator for Team Sports
  3. Teaching 1-2 classes (Part-time)
  4. Parent educations coordinating programs

JOB SUMMARY:

  1. Reports to principal
  2. Manage and prepare sports calendar for games/events
  3. Secure and file the paperwork for equipment lease requests involving the athletic department
  4. Be familiar with the gym, building and athletic field use
  5. Coordinate gym use for practices and games and give final clearance to the school staff
  6. Secure game workers for athletic contests, announcers, clock operators, scorekeepers, line judges, etc.
  7. Submit athletic expense request sheets for payment of officials and other workers to the district office
  8. Coordinate the collection of rosters for program information as needed
  9. Act as a resource person and coordinator for all coaches
  10. Maintain First Aid/CPR and Concussion Training records for all coaches
  11. Hold coaches meetings as well as family meetings before each season to share information about sportsmanship and player/parent expectations.
  12. Assist in the selection of coaches for the athletic program
  13. Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis. Make recommendations for improvement to the building principal and district administrator.
  14. Mediate the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and athletic programs
  15. Collect and maintain on file a properly completed physical card or alternate year physical card for every student participating in athletics
  16. Distribute athletic training rules yearly to all athletic participants. Collect and maintain on file a signed copy of student letters of intent
  17. Administer the school athletic code in a fair and consistent manner that is within the intent of the code
  18. Order Postseason awards for each program
  19. Perform other duties as assigned
  20. Inventories, orders, and stocks supplies
  21. Evaluates student injuries, determines the course of action, performs minor first aid in compliance with District policy (ies) and completes required paperwork in a timely fashion.
  22. Attends in-service trainings.
  23. Attends meetings as directed.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with children strongly preferred. Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving the conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others' ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrates the ability to successfully work with young children
  2. Ability to communicate fluently, verbally, and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students. Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  4. Proficiency in the usage of database software, internet software, and email. Ability to proficiently use Google (calendar, mail, drive). Ability to type accurately and proficiently. Ability to effectively use Synergy grade book.
  5. Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents and members of the community. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions. 
  6. Certificates as determined by the District including the ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, bloodborne pathogen training and blood spill training. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Helps to develop and evaluate marketing plans to promote the school's mission and programs, and to increase community and internal knowledge of school priorities and accomplishments.
  2. Plans and executes the school advertising and promotion activities.
  3. Establishes and maintains relationships with business and community leaders, staff and students, and the community to build awareness and support for school division initiatives and programs.
  4. Manages social media for the school setting guidelines and planning content.
  5. Writes, edits, and publishes a variety of communications and publications to facilitate and enhance awareness of school district programs, events, activities, and accomplishments.
  6. Coordinates special events under the guidance of the Principal.
  7. Coordinates and plans for parent education opportunities under the principal's guidance.
  8. Brings in known speakers for parent, student, and staff education.
