Position Summary:

 The Admin Support/Data Analyst is a step into a leadership position with part-time teaching responsibilities and a dual position filling the needs of a Data Analyst and Admin Support.  The responsibilities for this position will be to provide data requirements associated with school accreditation. Assist the various departments within the school division in their efforts to evaluate educational programs. Perform a variety of duties associated with the acquisition, management, analysis, and reporting of educational data for departments and schools. Provide technical assistance on the retrieval and storage of data. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

 Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Substitute for admin position when needed
  2. Assist the principal or other administrators as directed by the principal
  3. Generate Reports
  4. Handle multiple projects
  5. Textbook/resource ordering
  6. Completing weekly/monthly to-do lists from the principal.
  7. Assist with registrar needs two times a year. (August-September and December-January)
  8. Assist in designing various data collection projects and activities
  9. Develops timelines for project implementation, including resources needed
  10. Collaborate in selecting appropriate data collection instruments or in designing instruments
  11. Collect data from all kinds of resources including related web sites, obtains needed data from existing data files, and creates/prepared appropriate spreadsheets and databases
  12. Assist the Accountability and Research efforts in the development of survey instruments
  13. Complete analyses and written summaries of data from formative and summative assessment/testing as well as evaluation projects
  14. Query data to address specific information requests for research, evaluation, and assessment of TEA and local accrediting reporting requirements. 
  15. Prepares charts and graphs to illustrate data trends. Prepares PowerPoint presentations as needed.
  16. Fulfills data requests and answers questions for schools and other appropriate audiences.
  17. Provides technical assistance to the school regarding testing and evaluation results as well as school improvement. 
  18. Provides consultation to others in the division, on a formal or informal basis, on the use of software packages, as requested. 
  19.  Conducts literature reviews about educational practices as needed, generally through computerized methods. 
  20. Collect data from individual school sites, consolidates and creates summary database/reports.

 

Additional Job Functions

  • Performs other related work as required by the Principal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  1. Knowledge of relational database theory and design and experience manipulating large relational databases; proficient in the integrated use of Access and Excel.
  2. Additionally, the ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and knowledge of educational practices as applied to data extraction, manipulation, analysis, and reporting preferred.
  3. Proficient with Renweb Reporting, NWEA MAP Assessments, and Knowledge of relational databases.
  4. Thorough knowledge of educational research methodology, including research design, program evaluation, and data analysis.
  5. Thorough knowledge of program guidelines and professional standards.
  6. Considerable knowledge of the current legislature, literature, trends, methods, and developments in the area of test result evaluation. 
  7. Considerable knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.

8.Considerable skill in evaluating standardized test results and other data.

9.General knowledge of the principles of organization and administration. 

10.General knowledge of statistical and graphical software available.

11.Skilled in designing data collection instruments such as surveys.

12.Skilled in developing research designs, data storage strategies, program evaluation techniques, and data analysis methods.

  1. Skill in training and supporting school administration and staff.

14.Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports, charts, and graphs from them

  1. Ability to use common office machines and popular computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs.
  2. Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Function

 

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, scanners, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree

 

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics ( whether or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things. 

 

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/ or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving instructions, assignments or directions from superiors. 

 

Language ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, articles, proposals, manuals, legislation, graphs, charts, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, charts, graphs, statistical analysis, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence.

 

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

 

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and professional languages including psychometric, statistical and educational research terminology.
